My husband Ben and I recently returned from a month of climbing in South Africa. We stayed 2 hours North of Cape Town near the small town of Clanwilliam. Our rented villa was nestled in an olive grove overlooking a sheep ranch that butted against the Cederberg Mountains. On our ‘climbing rest’ days we traveled around the country side to small townships and to the wild beaches lining the western coast. It was incredibly cathartic to use just a map and locals to get around. I’m getting back into the routine of Nashville, but I can’t get rid of the feeling of being free from social media and a full schedule. I’m trying my best to implement the quietness I learned in South Africa.
